Christina Yocca has been teaching art to all ages for many years. She received her Art Education Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She received an MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From 1987 until 1995, she taught in Art Department at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, heading the fibers program. She currently teaches in the Eau Claire Area School District at Sherman Elementary . She has also taught in the Summer Institute and the SmART summer program for middle and high school students.
She teaches skills to young artists and nourishes their creativity. This approach enhances the confidence of young artists. Creativity is doing, knowing, and loving. By showing examples of artistic work from many times and cultures she fosters student’s love of art.
Recently, Christina exhibited in Green, an exhibit at ECRAC, The State Regional Art Center. New Work was a a solo exhibit at The Space, a centre for creativity in New Richmond, Wisconsin.Other shows include, The American Craft Show in St. Paul and Ordinary Alchemy at Translations Gallery in Denver, Colorado. She has exhibited her organic sculptures nationally. Using branches, clay, fibers, and other natural materials, she creates mysterious forms that echo forces and shapes in nature.
Grants in support of her work include: Arts Midwest New Partnership Grant, Ruth Chenven Foundation, Inc., and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire University Research and Creative Activities Grant.
